Coated-paper treatment (sanding)

Recommended for: Volumes with coated or semi-coated paper and spine margin that are too narrow or text blocks that are too thick (over one centimetre) to do side stitching.

DESCRIPTION:

  • Prior spine trimming in order to separate all the sheets of the text block.
  • Rotary sanding of the spine of the book.
  • Spine gluing using the “double fan” method.
Sewn coated-paper treatment

Recommended for: One to three sections of less than 10 pages with coated or semi-coated paper in matte-paper volumes.

DESCRIPTION:

  • Prior spine trimming in order to separate all the sheets of the text block.
  • Side-sewing of the coated-paper section using a page of matte paper from the text block prior to the section and another at the end of the section.
  • Spine gluing of the whole text block using the “double fan” method.
