DESCRIPTION :

  • Machine side-sewing of the text block with 2 reinforced endpapers of muslin (on the alternative bindings - reinforcements, sewn with endpapers without muslin).

* This type of treatment does NOT incur additional fees.

Hand sewing

Recommended for : Volumes made up of thick signatures (over 30 pages each) that are bound in the fold, and whose spine margin is too narrow or made of paper that is too heavily coated to be trimmed or glued. Used mainly for periodicals and newspapers.

DESCRIPTION:

  • Sewing holes of all signatures in the volume, to be sewn into a single block (several holes are made in the spine of the signatures).
  • Insertion of threads into the designated notches.
  • Hand sewing through the fold of each signature, to attach to the threads in each of the holes.

Spiral sewing (special punch)

Recommended for : Volumes having been puddled (pages held together by a spiral of plastic or metal) and having a back margin too narrow to be cut and glued.

Recommended for: Volumes with a block of pages between 1 cm and 2.5 cm thick with glossy or semi-glossy paper.

  • Machine sewing of the block of pages with 2 reinforced leaves of muslin made by the fold. The machine first holes the back and then sews in the same holes.

Oversewing

Recommended for : Volumes with a block of pages made of glossy or semi-gloss paper, with enough margin on the back for this type of sewing and more than one centimeter thick. Often used for cookbooks with multiple glossy images.

Recommended for: Volumes composed of a single signature whose pages are joined by the fold, having a back margin too narrow or being made of paper too glossy to be cut and glued. Warning ! This sewing can not be made on fascicles over 1 cm thick. Often for musical scores or books already sewn or stitched in the fold, but with little margin.
